Elisabeth and Obinna's meeting was the result of a series of significant events, impulsive choices, pivotal moments, intuitive feelings, lucky coincidences, and a touch of liquid courage. This sequence of events spans generations and millennia, all the way back to the first courageous mammal that, driven by necessity, determination, and the instinct to adapt, hauled itself up through grace and ventured into the unknown.
But let’s skip the tedious parts and jump ahead to 2023.
Obinna is a (thankfully) quiet and amazing man with a peculiar sense of humour. He enjoys sleeping as a hobby and walks too fast. He actually likes going to work and his favourite food is rice. He wanted to be a doctor when he was younger, but 3 years in biology and physics class revealed his true passion for Finance. He is a very focused and driven person and enjoys listening to me talk (I really hope). Obinna has always endeavoured to serve in the church wherever he may be out of his personal relationship and commitment to God. I fondly call him ‘baby’ when he has done something amazing, ‘my love’ when I want something and ‘Obinna’ when I am annoyed. But if I call him ‘John’ then I am beyond annoyed.
My Baby, like I would fondly call her, is a great gift to me from God (Nkechinyerem). Elisabeth is a loving and kind angel who regularly seeks the best in others. She is that person you want to be in the room with and to be on her team because she goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone wins and is happy. (Lucky for me, I get to do life with her as a Husband).
I know Obinna will speak of 2013, but I can't even remember him at home. In 2018, my sister recommended him when I was looking to buy Kilishi in Nigeria. He knew less about his own city than I did. In 2022, I sent gifts to acquaintances in Nigeria, including him. Touched by my generosity, he called me to thank me and we began texting weekly, then talking daily from September 2022. By December, talking every morning became a ritual as close friends "in Christ."
On December 22nd, 2013, after a long semester, I traveled from Kumasi to Accra to get my ticket to Nigeria. Due to the festive season, all tickets were sold out, so I spent a night at their house. Little did I know I'd meet the love of my life. We kept in touch, and by 2022, we couldn't go a day without talking for at least an hour. Our love grew stronger each day, and in April 2023, we decided to answer God's call for our lives and live happily ever after... Lol.
I never thought I was ready for marriage until I started talking to Elisa. She made me understand what true love is, and indeed what we share is a model of love in 1 Corinthians 5. After several conversations, I realized how lucky I am to have an amazing person in my life, so making the decision to marry her came naturally because I could not imagine losing this precious gift from God.

After many conversations, I realized how amazing Obinna was. We shared similar future plans, which brought us closer. One day, not hearing from him made me realize I liked him. As we dated, we prayed together, and he was always encouraging and understanding. Though marriage wasn't on my mind initially, our cherished moments of devotion and prayer made me certain he was the man I wanted to marry.
